Lobster…mmm, mmm good.

I am a self professed lobsterholic. Yes, I love lobster. I really love any seafood, but lobster is one of my favorite types of seafood to eat. It ties with Maryland blue crabs steamed with Old Bay. I recently returned from a brief vacation with my sister in Maine. There I was able to indulge in my love of lobster. Friends, I had lobster for breakfast (in an omelette with Swiss cheese), for lunch (the classic New England lobster roll) and dinner (of course, classic two pound lobster that you shell yourself, with potatoes and a beer of course.) I was in lobster heaven. Everywhere I went there was lobster… lobster on menus, lobster hats, lobster towels… you name it and it had lobster in it or on it. I have yet to cook a lobster and probably never will. I just have to go back to Maine for lobster 24/7.

Lobster is actually very good for you. Of course you have to do away with the butter, the cheese, the mayo, but in moderation, that isn’t too bad. Lobster tail is not only lower in fat and calories than pork, beef, and chicken, but it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. By adding omega-3 fatty acid into one’s daily diet it will lower your risk of heart disease. (Livestrong website). In 100 grams of lobster, there are only 90 calories and 1 gram of fat. Thus, lobster meat and steamed veggies are a healthy clean alternative.

So here is some lobster . Enjoy your summer, filled with lobster, beer and fun.

When is a lobster a chicken? …..When it weighs about one pound.
When is a lobster a pistol? …….When it has no claws.
Why wouldn’t a lobsterman with shorts on want to meet a marine patrol officer? …….He has lobsters that don’t meet the the legal size.
Why shouldn’t a lobster walk into the kitchen? ……It’s the first chamber of a lobster trap. (The inner chamber is called the bedroom or parlor.) – See more at: http://www.gma.org/lobsters/trivia.html#sthash.9P5zw8BA.dpuf
